Who I am
Tommi Raisanen C.Psychol, MSc, MA, UKCP, HCPC.
I am HCPC registered counselling psychologist, family systems therapist and UKCP registered Gestalt psychotherapist and a group psychotherapist. I have been a teaching fellow at the doctorate programme PsychD in Counselling Psychology at the Department of Psychology, University of Surrey since 2005; where I supervise doctoral trainees; teach assessment and formulation, psychotherapeutic skills; hold lectures on attachment, on psychopathology and human distress. I have worked with individuals and groups in acute psychiatry in hospital and the HM Prison service. I am also an internal examiner at the University of Surrey’s doctoral programme as well as an external examiner for the Gestalt Centre training programme.
Previously, I completed undergraduate and post graduate trainings in psychology; had a diploma in family systems therapy; an MSc in Psychodynamics of Human Development at Birkbeck College, University of London and gained an MA in Gestalt individual and group Psychotherapy at the Gestalt Centre, London Metropolitan University as well as 3 year advanced psychotherapy training programme on psychotherapy integration, advanced systemic interpersonal therapy & CBT at the (previous training institute) Physis, Centre for Qualitative Research in Counselling Psychology and Psychological Therapies.

My current interests are interpersonal neurobiology, attachment and relationships, neuroscience and brain function, impact of psychological trauma in individuals, couples and families; family dynamics, health/ illness and somatic processes, creative process.
I am the director of Kaamos Ltd, a private psychological therapy practice in London where I offer variety of different kinds of psychotherapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural and behaviour therapies, attachment focused, relational, systemic and Gestalt therapy, emotionally focused couple therapy and EMDR.
I frequently attend conferences and offer talks and workshops abroad; enjoy outdoor activities, exercise, travel and good food. Nature, environment and meditation practice are close to my heart.
